ON·ENTROPY’S MARBLE LIGHTNESS AT SALONE DEL MOBILE

NOW AVAILABLE AT GALLERIA ROSSANA ORLANDI FOR PURCHASE: on•entropy is a marble atelier that was established in 2009 in Athens, Greece and London, UK, and has specialised in an unconventional approach to the archetypal Greek material. The studio’s designs focus on the visual and tactile contradiction between being heavy and compact and, at the same time, vulnerable, fragile and even translucent. [caption id="attachment_5388" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Image Credit: on•entropy[/caption] This is, in fact, the brand ethos of on•entropy – experimenting with marble and its entropy, its diverse character, its transformation potential and inherent limitations. The result is always a physical manifestation of flawless craftsmanship through exquisitely intricate and delicate creations that blend marble traditions with contemporary designs. COSHAMIE’S DESIGN PICK: KÓKILI PROJECTS

BECAUSE WE NEED BEAUTIFUL OBJECTS IN OUR DAY-TO-DAY LIVES: Design has transcended its functional purpose over the last centuries. Form and beauty have taken on new meaning throughout the 20th and 21st centuries in particular. So, it’s no surprise that more and more creative studios are drawing upon a focus on beauty in life as they offer new designs. Furniture and lighting are essential to daily living, but decorative elements are often the final, game-changing pieces in the home décor puzzle. They set the tone. They surprise and enchant. They bring out the very best features in the environment that we work hard to build for ourselves. [caption id="attachment_5215" align="aligncenter" width="400"] Image Courtesy: Kókili Projects[/caption] Celebrating the optimism of life itself, Kókili Projects seem...

COSHAMIE’S DESIGN PICK: HEAL’S TENDETER CHANTELLE COCKTAIL CABINET

WALNUT AND PINK COME TOGETHER FOR AN ELEGANT EXPERIENCE: Perhaps one of the most important names on the British furniture design scene, Heal’s is a name that carries many years of tradition and fine craftsmanship from 1810 through to the 21st century. Its founder, John Harris Heal introduced French-style feather-filled mattresses to London’s homeowners, ending the era of straw beds. Ever since, Heal’s has been a landmark brand for high quality, attention to detail and a distinctive focus on comfort. COSHAMIE’S DESIGN PICK: MATTHEW WILLIAMSON

BRINGING OUT THE VIBRANT PINKS, GREENS AND BLUES FOR THE BOLD INTERIOR: Spring is swiftly rolling into town, as swiftly evidenced by the blossoming trees and golden rays of sunshine – that is, when it’s not all grey and misty like every March in London! But it is with great optimism that we welcome the new season and embrace the dazzling array of colours that it often brings along. In that spirit, we’ve turned to Matthew Williamson’s electric collection of furniture, a vibrant palette of pinks, turquoise greens and deep blues that turn any interior into a stylish statement. We’d normally have to settle for one product to talk about, but Williamson’s collection is so rich and beautiful, we had a hard...

COSHAMIE’S DESIGN PICK: VIOSKI

WHERE MID-CENTURY & CONTEMPORARY DESIGN MEET IN PERFECT UNISON: Comfort and style have never been closer together than in Vioski’s simple but elegant designs. Jeff Vioski draws his roots from architecture, which is why his creations are so considerately constructed, and yet so fluid in form and function. [caption id="attachment_4971" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Chicago Sofa (Image Courtesy: Vioski)[/caption] Bringing strength through proportion and the kind of timeless beauty that is very difficult to attain in this day and age, the California-based design brand wears its creations as a badge of honour. The mid-century charm is there – simplicity, functionality and a touch of minimalism exude from each object bearing the Vioski signature. However, the sleek lines and modern allure speak for themselves. [caption id="attachment_4979" align="aligncenter"...
