BRINGING OUT THE VIBRANT PINKS, GREENS AND BLUES FOR THE BOLD INTERIOR:
Spring is swiftly rolling into town, as swiftly evidenced by the blossoming trees and golden rays of sunshine – that is, when it’s not all grey and misty like every March in London! But it is with great optimism that we welcome the new season and embrace the dazzling array of colours that it often brings along.
In that spirit, we’ve turned to Matthew Williamson’s electric collection of furniture, a vibrant palette of pinks, turquoise greens and deep blues that turn any interior into a stylish statement. We’d normally have to settle for one product to talk about, but Williamson’s collection is so rich and beautiful, we had a hard time picking just one. So, we picked a few. OK, more than a few.
The Turquoise Blue & Gold Azari wallpaper is our first stop. This stylised interpretation of peacock feather in gold line drawing rests beautifully against the turquoise blue backdrop, and it was named after an architectural style. This is an elegant but electrifying design, printed on an easy-to-hang non-woven base, perfect for a sophisticated but cosmopolitan dining room.
The Berry Butterfly Wheel Tango Chair is as beautifully quirky as its name suggests. It’s a superb statement piece that embraces the elegance of mid-century design with a contemporary swish on the fabric. The curves are pure vintage and the button detailing further heightens the aesthetic, whilst the splayed ebony and brass legs complete the style.
The Butterfly Wheel fabric made its debut on the spring/summer 2008 catwalk for Williamson’s ready-to-wear collection, and it’s designed with an ombre of berry shades dissolving through a butterfly wing pattern.
The Pink Mirror coffee table is gorgeous send off to those ritzy summers by the pool, complete with lengthy early morning sessions beneath the Californian sun. This unique piece is finished with an antique mirror top, bordered with a magenta pink lacquer edging – the stylish meeting point between vintage and contemporary. The legs resemble flamingo legs, making it yet another fabulous statement piece for the living room or terrace.
Part of the same collection, the Green Nesting tables are equally charming, each with a distinct finish – peacock, antique mirror and green lacquer. The flamingo legs are part of the signature design, a lively accessory altogether.
To perfectly match these nesting tables is the Estelle Teal Tango Chair, yet another statement piece devoted to the mid-century charm. The same luscious curves complimented by ebony and brass legs are displayed, this time with a fresh and exciting shade of green.
The piece de resistance in this collection – or at least that’s what we thought when we first saw it – is the Jade Butterfly Wheel Fontaine Day Bed. The iconic print first introduced for Williamson’s spring/summer ready-to-wear collection in 2008 is the core of this superb design. This piece is a quiet invitation to simply relax and enjoy the small pleasures of life – whether it’s a coffee or a cocktail that you’re pairing with that book.
The best part? It’s entirely customisable, with 40 fabrics available for you to pick from – each a masterpiece of textile design.
