BECAUSE WE NEED BEAUTIFUL OBJECTS IN OUR DAY-TO-DAY LIVES:
Design has transcended its functional purpose over the last centuries. Form and beauty have taken on new meaning throughout the 20th and 21st centuries in particular. So, it’s no surprise that more and more creative studios are drawing upon a focus on beauty in life as they offer new designs.
Furniture and lighting are essential to daily living, but decorative elements are often the final, game-changing pieces in the home décor puzzle. They set the tone. They surprise and enchant. They bring out the very best features in the environment that we work hard to build for ourselves.
Celebrating the optimism of life itself, Kókili Projects seem to be driven by the creation of beautiful objects and experiences. Blending the familiar with the mysterious and the functional with the apparently useless, this emerging design studio presents a fascinating line devoted to enriching the ambient with both integrity and whimsical ingenuity.
The brilliant minds behind Kókili Projects, So Jung Lee and Gregory Walker, make a habit of infusing their designs with the kind of novelty that just feels right. Both are highly accomplished designers and architects with rigorous training and exceptional instincts – paired with their charming love of beautiful things, it only made sense to come together and give us Kókili Projects.
Mary’s Vase is a superb yet surprisingly simple design. Inspired by their friend’s habit of picking flowers from the garden every day, Ms Lee and Mr Walker created a special wall vase, based on a conversation around framing not only the physical object but also the daily ritual itself.
Another item we love is the Tree Story. According to the designers, the object draws inspiration from long strolls through the woods, as summer descends into fall. Based on the variety of scents and colours that accompany this natural transition, the scent container is a delightful little forest filled with subtle fragrances.
These gorgeous scent containers don’t just look good, they gradually release layer upon layer of natural fragrances, further building upon an atmosphere that just feels so… right.
Find out more about the studio and further explore their superb designs. We’re currently looking at our walls and picking out the perfect spots for Mary’s Vase. One just isn’t enough.
