THE ICONIC DESIGNER’S UNIQUELY ARTISTIC TOUCH GRACES THIS STUNNING RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX:
On 17th November, in collaboration with Uribe & Schwarzkopf, Wanders & YOO launched a nature-inspired apartment setting in the exclusive urban neighbourhood of Gonzales Suarez in Ecuador.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first residential Wanders & YOO project,” said YOO head of design Mark Davison. “The fabulous design we have created for Quito is a solid collaboration of both Marcel’s creative flair and YOO’s international residential design excellence.”
The project consists of two towers over 19 storeys tall. Complete with 102 one, two and three bedroom apartments, the residences were inspired by local flora and fauna and designed to bring much of the botanicals into the development for residents to enjoy.
“All of the public spaces have been thoughtfully arranged to serve as extensions of the living spaces, allowing residents to increase their entertainment aspect,” says Marcel Wanders, Creative Director of Wanders & Yoo.
“We wanted local nature to be a recurring, yet unexpected appointment. Curtains of hanging plants, green walls of plants overgrowing structures and a green oasis create secret gardens to relax within,” says Marcel.
Three overarching concepts of Fire, Air and Earth define the residential part of the project. In addition to using natural, low ecological-impact materials, the designer found ways to create smarter living spaces. Each apartment is designed to minimize solar impact.
Light and movement sensors were installed for energy efficiency. Green terraces in outside areas minimize construction’s impact and transparent glass serves to optimize lighting.
Within the development designed by Wanders & YOO, residents will be able to enjoy amenities such as a pool, multi-purpose courts, a fitness centre, a teen area and kids club, an outdoor cinema, a party and event room, a meeting room and business centre, a residents’ dining room, games room, a communal terrace with view and even, a yoga deck. Each apartment and the amenities were designed to create a seamless flow to foster a sense of community.
“All of the public spaces have been thoughtfully arranged to serve as extensions of the living spaces, allowing residents to increase their entertainment aspect,” says Marcel. We’re now officially considering a little holiday home in Ecuador…
