ON·ENTROPY’S MARBLE LIGHTNESS AT SALONE DEL MOBILE

NOW AVAILABLE AT GALLERIA ROSSANA ORLANDI FOR PURCHASE:

on•entropy is a marble atelier that was established in 2009 in Athens, Greece and London, UK, and has specialised in an unconventional approach to the archetypal Greek material. The studio’s designs focus on the visual and tactile contradiction between being heavy and compact and, at the same time, vulnerable, fragile and even translucent.

This is, in fact, the brand ethos of onentropy – experimenting with marble and its entropy, its diverse character, its transformation potential and inherent limitations. The result is always a physical manifestation of flawless craftsmanship through exquisitely intricate and delicate creations that blend marble traditions with contemporary designs.

Following this specific path where art and design are intertwined, onentropy unveiled their newest creation at Salone del Mobile this year, for Galleria Rossana Orlandi. After its successful debut, the Marble Lightness installation is now available for purchase and we couldn’t be any happier.

Marble Lightness explores the fascinating interplay between lightness and form, with the tactile nature of marble making it instinctive to touch. In a weightless dance, Birds find balance with Ray in a light that transcends the material and frees the form.

Ray is the main marble light pendant of this installation, around which the birds ‘danced’ during the Milan Design Week exhibition, and is designed as a lightweight single-volume pendent light, devoid of seams. Light is beautifully streamed through the material, further accentuating the texture and minerals within. What makes Ray perfect is the absence of cables through its lean and smart design.

The Birds are sculpted from Greek Dyonisian marble, employing the idea of hapticity: you can’t help but touch it when you see it. These gorgeously simple handcrafted artefacts can now be purchased through the gallery.

In fact, you can either purchase each object separately or do yourself a favour and take the entire installation as it was curated for the Rossana Orlandi exhibition at Salone del Mobile. The complete set seems to tell a whimsical story of its own, with each hand-finished marble creation bringing lightness and light into the living space.

Visit on•entropy’s website to discover their marble creations, and visit Galleria Rossana Orlandi to select one or all pieces of the Marble Lightness installation.
