ECHO : THE FUTURE IS A FLICKER OF LIGHT

FROM CHRIS LEVINE’S BLIPVERTS TO LIGHTVERT’S ECHO: Blipverts became popular from ‘80s television, and the term itself comes from Max Headroom – referring to highly time-compressed advertisement videos. On a more general note, the blipvert is considered to be a brief collection of often-random images cut together very quickly, in a high-speed montage. However, celebrated light artist Chris Levine took the blipvert to a whole new level. Actually, scratch that – he completely reinvented the term around stunning and elusive lighting installations that now represent a healthy percentage of his internationally acclaimed work. How Chris Levine is using the portrait of Dalai Lama to support ActionAid and Help Tibet in Nepal Author: Coshamie On 25th April 2015 a horrific event literally shook an entire nation. Nepal was devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that killed over 8,000 people and injured more than 21,000. Approximately 2.8 million were displaced across the 39 districts affected. Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur recorded the most damage, with 70,000 homes destroyed and over 35,000 people left in need of critical shelter. The devastation was beyond most words to describe. The tragedy was profoundly soul-shattering, not just for the country itself, but also for the rest of the world as it reacted to the event. One third of Nepal’s population (8 million)...

From Tibet to Glastonbury: The Journey

Author: COSHAMIE As simple as it may sound, art is a voyage: from the incandescent spark of an idea, to its nurturing through vivid imagination and all the way into its execution by diligent hands in perfect harmony with the biological computer that commands them. Art exhilarates, entrances and fascinates. It is timeless and limitless, impervious to borders and restraints. And it travels – it captures the hearts and minds of millions of people around the world. Once upon a time, a flicker of light raced through the mind of Chris Levine with the sole purpose of creating a unique portrait for one of the most serene and inspiring figures of the 21st century. You see, it all started with Lightness of Being...
